I love the idea that life is one giant leap of faith. Whatever faith means to you... it is literally holding your breath, hoping it all turns out, and learning to cope with the anxiety that may give you along the way.

And of course, the human species is a creature of habit, so jumping in to anything new - is just cause for alarm for all of our red flag sensors, instincts, and intuitions. But we know, challenging that fight or flight system is where the magic lies, where the fun begins, where our neuron pathways are created (to get nerdy with it).

Of course, there will be blunders along the way. We will have to pick ourselves up over and over and over again. But oh my goodness - the GRATITUDE! How amazing is it that we get these opportunities? How exciting and real and raw it is to show our true, messy colors and be able to pick up where we left off and continue on?

And the most beautiful part about all of this is that you get to choose. And more over, you get to take ownership of that choice, make it yours, make it known, make is sacred, make it a decision worth your time, your efforts, your very existence. When we do make our choices worth our while we get to choose to watch beautiful moments happen. Moments we created, with intention and truth.

I met these two perfect humans this past winter when they asked me to photograph their micro wedding, in Maryland, on the grounds of a gorgeous air bnb with no more than 20 of their closest loved ones. The ceremony was performed by one of their closest friends. Their family cooked the food, decorated, and organized the day. There were moments of peace and ease, none of chaos and frenzy. The babies were allowed to babies, and the adults were allowed to sit back and revel in the joy of the whole romantic affair.

This day reminded me, what if we were allowed to just let our choices play out the way they were meant to? What if we allowed ourselves to ask for what we want, play to find joy, work to find challenge, be brave enough to take a leap, make choices that truly align with who we are, take ownership of those choices, but then in the end, at the end of the day - slow down and just let it all be how it all came to be.

I am so grateful for all the choices that were made to lead me to this day. But even more so, I am beyond grateful that on a February 29th these two beautiful people decided to Take the Leap, trust the process, and find new ways to discover life - together!

So here is your reminder - go take action, make your decisions with intention, and when all else fails... take the leap.

A little more about the photo technical part of the day. I offer, upon request, photo services for micro weddings. Under 50 people, less than 5 hours of session time, anywhere in the world if you want me to go with you. I document the day how it happens, much less posing and much more watching you be you. On these slower days of intentionality, I love to play with angles and shadows. The weather was amazing on this day, we lucked out, but the midday light was harsh - which gives the stark contrast between light and dark. This is when the creativity starts to flow and we find what life really looks like behind the lens - the black and whites are strong and frequent, the highlights shine brightly on every magical moment.
