These are the school photos you'll want to send to everyone in the holiday family letter. These are the school pictures that scream your student's personality, the kind that showcases whatever they want to give that day, the kind of photos that prove your student has way too much personality for the one and done School Picture Days. You need more than one image taken in a dark gym, with bad lighting, scared smiles, and shocked wide eyes to tell your kids story and who they are right now.
You can get personality portraits, quickly, with the convenience of being at home, AND have fun doing it.
Sometimes you can have it all.
Your students don't have to be school aged, in traditional school, or even in a certain milestone chapter of their life to have their personality captured.
How will your kid show up in front of the camera alone for five minutes?
Guaranteed outcome: it will be who they are in that moment as honest and true, no filter, and those are moments to be immortalized annually.
Where are your kids most comfortable? Where are any of us most comfortable? The answer is very simple. Because it is what makes a house a home. Mom and dad close by, siblings making silly faces behind me, natural window light, maybe they are holding their favorite stuffy.
Friend, a home is where the memories are made, the magic happens, and the real, gutsy, honesty type emotions - including the very silliest ones - are free to be expressed...
The glow that emanates when your little human is comfortable and confident enough to shine in their very own unique way - those are the faces I want to see in front of my camera.
I'm not here to tell your kid to smile. No thanks, those days are done. We've seen them smile. Also, you have about 12,000 cell phone pictures of your kid "saying cheese".
I'll pass.
I want the solemn. I want the laughing. I want the ponder. I want the unsure, the inquisitive, the dancing, the silly. I want the in-the-middle-of-a-joke-can't-understand-the-punchline photo that shows the guts, the confidence, the clever, and the witty.
Don't tell me you can't FEEL a photo, I will prove you wrong in a heartbeat. Give me a kid who is at peace enough internally to show me all the personality externally.
Call them Kid Personality Portraits or School Photos, or call them what you will. These portraits are of your kid being them. JUST. Themselves.
First you have to schedule your School Photo Personality Portrait session.
You're going to pay an initial session fee for me to get out there, setup, and edit the photos.
You can add on things like:
Pick the outfit and put it on them the day of the session. Want some styling assistance? You can go HERE to look at my styling blog or reach out and I'll give you some quick tips.
On your session day, I'm going to come to your house, setup my 5x7ft background in the most naturally lit part of your home. I have a couple extra small lights to supplement if needed.
Each student gets about 5 minutes in front of the camera. That's all we need if conditions are right. If someone is feeling nervous, anxious, or unsure. We take our time. I will absolutely get some tears photos in there - you have to remember those too (all emotions matter). But I will also wait very patiently for the other emotions to come around.
In three to four weeks I'll deliver your gallery. I guarantee 20 images to choose from, most of the time you'll receive more.
You get to decide how to purchase them. I am here to help if you need.
I'll order your prints, deliver them when they are shipped to me and WAH-LAH - your school picture day dilemmas are complete.
If you want me to help with sizing, making a list of family and friends, or even pre-addressing your envelopes to send them out, I can do that too!
If this feels very similar to school picture day... its meant to. Except now you're involved, you get WAY more personality from your kid than the school gym ever would, the process is customized to your child's needs, and what you want as a doting parent.
If school picture day is really about capturing who your kid is right now, we need to reeeeaalllly show the world who your kid is right now. And to me that can be accomplished with more than one photo, where they love to be most, when they feel they are at their safest, and when they are actually being SEEN as humans, not just a number in a long line of co-students.
My mission is to give you the opportunity to line your walls with your child's personality. Each image being unique, and expressing exactly who your child was at that age.
I want you to FEEL the personality when you see it. I want a stranger to be able to walk in your home and KNOW your kid by looking at those photos on the wall.
(Completely theoretical, I'm not actually condoning letting strangers into your home to snoop around your family photos)
Drop your questions in the comments or use the CONTACT ME page to reach out AND ask me how you can set this session up every year, annually, so you don't have to even think about another thing to "stay on top of" or remember to do.
I gotchyou!
